Information we collect

LyricsRay is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:

• Theme preference

  Your light/dark mode preference is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

• Human verification

  When you use the service, we briefly remember that you passed our "are you a human?" check so you don't have to repeat it on every request, and is stored locally in your browser using localStorage.. This is forgotten after 60 minutes.

• Analysis data

  When you submit lyrics for analysis, we process: song name (if provided), artist name (if provided), and lyrics content. This information is used only to generate the analysis results. The analysis results are stored in a database for later retrieval.

• Rate-limit status

  If you reach our usage limit for new analyses, we remember when you'll be able to try again using your browser's sessionStorage, so refreshing the page still shows an accurate wait time instead of an empty form. This is cleared automatically once the wait period ends, and is cleared entirely when you close your browser tab. This data never leaves your device.

• Mature content confirmation

  If you confirm you are 18 or older to view lyrics flagged as mature, we remember that confirmation so you are not asked again on future pages. This is normally stored in your browser's localStorage; if that isn't available, we fall back to storing it in a regular browser cookie instead. Either way, this confirmation is not used for tracking, advertising, or analytics.

• Support prompt status

  We keep a simple count in your browser's localStorage of how many song analyses you've requested, so we can occasionally show a note inviting you to help cover hosting costs. This count and any dismissal you make stay on your device and are not used for tracking, advertising, or analytics.

What we don't collect

• No personal identification

  We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information (PII).

• No tracking cookies

  We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.

• No account system

  LyricsRay does not require user accounts or login credentials, although this may change in a future release of the app. This page will be updated once user accounts are enabled.

Data storage and security

Analysis data related to a song and its lyric content is processed in real-time and permanently stored on our servers. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect all data transmission.

Service description

LyricsRay provides AI-powered analysis of song lyrics to help parents make informed decisions about age-appropriate content for their children. The service is currently offered on a free-to-try basis, with plans to implement a pay-as-you-go model in the future.

Acceptable use

You agree to use LyricsRay only for its intended purpose. Prohibited activities include:

• Attempting to abuse, exploit, or overwhelm our service
• Using automated tools or scripts to make excessive requests
• Attempting to reverse engineer or extract our AI analysis methods
• Using the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose

Service limitations

LyricsRay is provided as-is without warranties of any kind. While we strive for accuracy:

• AI analysis may not catch all inappropriate content
• Results are advisory and not definitive judgments
• Parents maintain full responsibility for content decisions
• Service availability is not guaranteed

Third-party services

LyricsRay uses AI for lyric analysis and may use third-party services for song lyric retrieval. We are not affiliated with any media corporations, record labels, streaming services, or entertainment businesses.

Disclaimer of liability

LyricsRay and its creators are not liable for decisions made based on our analysis. The service is a tool to inform parental decisions, not a substitute for parental judgment or professional guidance. We make no guarantees about the accuracy or completeness of analysis results.

Changes to terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms and our privacy policy at any time. Continued use of LyricsRay after changes constitutes acceptance of updated terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
